Need some help - google has let me down...
For the SW focus motors they use the RJ9/RJ10 (???) 4 wire modular plug - this LOOKS the same as your std telephone RJ11 plug but the body is smaller...
It's actually the same size as the plugs used on the handset curly cable on a fixed phone....
I really need a flat cable (the curly "pulls" too much) for semi-remote (3- 4 mtr) operation of the focus motor.....
Can't seem to find them anywhere
Any ideas???
Ken,
I've had no trouble in the past buying 4 strand and 6 strand flat phone cable from Jaycar.
Pretty sure I have some at home if you want me to send you 3-4 metres of it. PM me if so

Niko,
The Jaycar flat cable seems to be the RJ11 std telephone cable....not the smaller plugged handset cable....

Jaycar sell 4 core phone cable (WB-1620) and the 4p4c modular plug (PP-1430). You'll need the crimp tool.
4p4c = 4 position, 4 contacts. The standard phone/wall connector is 6p4c.

The 4P4C connector, is popularly, but incorrectly, called RJ22, RJ10, or RJ9.
You can buy small packs of the connectors and the 2 pair flat cable from places like Jaycar. They also have crimp tools in a range of prices. Not hard to strip and crimp your own with the flat phone cable.

Thanks guys.
Yes, I figured that option, but for a one off build it seems expensive and a bit of a PITA......
BUT...may be that's the only "non curly" cable option....
Ken

nico,
PM sent.
I bought the very same cable as your asking from an IIS member about 2years ago he was starting up a business to make and sell such things . The only thing I remember is he was in Perth and made the cable for a really good price. Maybe someone on ice in space will remember him.

Yeah I am still around, although the business failed to take off so I canned it. I still might be able to make some products but the workshop is a bit of a mess at the moment and my time is taken up with Uni.
Generally I was charging cost of the parts plus about $5.00 plus postage. I still have a few telephone cable available so it is possible to keep making them if worth it. Depends how long the cable needs to be.
