View Full Version here: : MyGov login problems
Hi Guys is anyone else here have issues with the MyGov login.
They send me the code which i type in and click next and it tells me "you have just logged out" for security reasons please close your browser.
This has happened each and every time, and there are no mistakes with the account details either.
Tried 3 different browsers and all are doing the same thing, so buggered if i know

Hmmm.
Nope, working for me (20:18, 2022-10-03).
You are using "https://my.gov.au", right???
Anything else is a phishing site.

I had login problems the other day (of a different kind). I called the help desk and the guy told me that the new system software was buggy - apparently IT staff are working every night to fix it. He specifically mentioned your problem as being well-known (mine was a new one).
OK thank you very much, will keep at it, I have to wonder though why they keep trying to fix and change things that aren't broken.

Hi Leon
I had a somewhat similar problem with a different site. Turned out it was the monkey typing in the wrong number from the message.
I suggest you double check that it is correct number you are typing in.

I believe MyGov only allows a couple of browsers to log in. I don't have a computer, so only devices. I know Chrome is one of them. That's the one I use.
Thanks guys, well actually no success at all same thing is happening i used Mozilla and Edge, hopefully i will get to the bottom of it soon, thanks for your suggestions.

MyGov should support most desktop browsers, presuming the browser is mostly standards compliant (Chrome, Firefox, Edge, Safari, Chromium, etc.). Their new system seems to be a bit buggy, though, so perhaps that reflects in apparent browser compatibility.
Some info on the recent changes:
https://my.gov.au/en/about
https://www.servicesaustralia.gov.au/mygov-has-now-changed?context=1
MyGov has added a code generator app to the list of sign-in options:
https://my.gov.au/en/about/help/mygov-account/help-using-your-account/sign-in-to-mygov
I'm a tad disappointed, that you can't "fall-back" on the fly to a second sign-in option if one fails, e.g. if you've lost your phone. What it looks like, at the moment, is that the only recovery option is to use myGovID, which is complicated and probably also accessed via an app on your phone.

If you're near a Centrelink, maybe you can use the self-service machines to try and login? That would show if the problem is at your end or their end.
Hi guys this is what comes up on the search line at the top of an empty page, what could this mean please.

Longshot but, have you tried clearing your browser cache?
Actually Carlton I have done that with all three browsers that I tried.
I never did have Chrome so just for the hell of it downloaded that and that also failed.
Ah well we will get it sorted soon I hope, thank you.

Hope you get it sorted soon Leon..

Thank you for all your help and suggestions, however here is an interesting situation.
On the Desktop i am using now any browser will not open MyGov, but will open any other site that i wish to look at, hence no joy with MyGov.
However I do have another Desktop in the studio which I don't use very often, so I had a brainwave and fired it up to see if that could do it.
And there ya go it did open My Gov, :eyepop:so what is going on with the other machine do you think.
But the one in the studio used the old ZZ123123 numbers and password way where as the new machine wants and email and password before it gives me a code and shuts it down.
So maybe do i do a system restore on this new machine, cant hurt i suppose
Leon

I wonder if its the new 'improved' website?
Philip
Hey Chris you can try as many times as you like, nothing changes, it just doesn't work, they just cant leave it alone if it was working beforehand.
It might be new but hardly improved

Leon,
I've just had another look & I see that the website allows you to use either your userid (the number) or an email address.
Have you tried on the computers you've had no success on trying the userid?
I ask this because, I'm still having no trouble logging on but, I use my userid not my email address.
Cheers
Carlton, thanks, now on the Desktop that i use daily and which i am on now it automatically comes up with my email address and password, and even if i change that to the userid (numbers) there is no difference, and it fails.
On the other Desktop in the studio which is much older than this one it opens the boxes for my email or userid (numbers).
I type in my numbers and password and it works, so i don't quite know why this happens on one machine and not on the other.

Have you tried your phone or a tablet? Using the browser in either?
Yes Carlton that is going to be my next trick, however i am not that good with phone apps and that sort of stuff.
Thank you though I will get there and you will be the first to know how it all goes. :)

Leon,
I know it's extreme, and I haven't looked through all the post, but have you considered going into a Centrelink office?
You hear horror stories, I know, but our local one in Yass has always been helpful.
If it all stuffs up on their computer, you'll know for sure!
Good luck.

Neville, I haven't as yet visited a center but have been in contact over the phone, It turns out it is my Computer, on this one zi am typing on as we speak, all other devices and the other Desktop is just fine, so short of a total reinstall of the OS I will have to figure it out some how.
Thanks for your response.
