Does anyone have trouble with registax 6? I've uninstalled it and reinstalled it three times; I managed to process a picture, closed it down, reopened it this morning, and no, it's playing up.
I get to a certain point, and the thing refuses to respond.
Has anyone had something similar happen, and how did you get around it?

Did you install both Registax 6 & the update? Never had a problem with it myself so if you have both installed I have no idea.

Cheers,
Mark

Try using Autostakkert 3 for stacking ( much better than Registax 6 ) and only use Registax 6 to do final processing ( sharpening , colour etc.. )
Registax 6 is very old and I don’t think it has been updated in a long while
Ive used Autostakkert 3 for stacking and Registax 6 for final processing since late 2018 and it works well on Windows 10 ( 64bit system )

Astro Pixel Processor is not free but it is very good and properly maintained both of which are an advantage.

One off payment unless there is a very major change and then there is a discount.

I have constant problems but I'm trying to work with images taken with a 36.x Nikon full frame camera and I believe my problem is associated with the size of the files.
I've taken to using other less capable software.

One thing to remember with RegiStax is that it is old software from 2010/2011 and as such can only make limited use of a modern computers capabilities - mainly it is restricted to 4GB of memory. This means that stacking many large files slows it to a crawl, often appearing to have frozen but it is usually still working, just very slowly. It needs time to work when stacking. This is why many people stack in other programs & just use RegiStax for it's wavelet feature.

Exactly what I mentioned above Mark
Use Autostakkert 3 to stack and Registax 6 for final processing ( Sharpening, colour etc…)
I have written procedures for both software

This may not be relevant,
But on Registax site, they have released a new version which they now call Wavesharp 0.1
