Selling due to financial constraints.
Originally purchased for a friend, he decided, unseen, on an FLT 110 instead. Go figure?!
Well, the FLT is off to Siberia and I can't afford to keep this.

Stunning, ultra high contrast, crystal clear, colourless, faultless wide field refractor. Pinpoint, brilliant stars. No ghosting or fade-in.
Hand-finished Russian 105/650 OK4 (similar to FPL53 but better IMO) triplet lens in a beautifully made SV tube with 2" Feathertouch focuser.
If AP made a 4", this would be it. Optically equal to a "Traveller" in every way.

This lens configuration is now only available from APM / TMB, and in their least expensive tube will set you back over $US4100 + post + duty, etc. etc.
It has some extremely small paint scrapes on end of the dew shield where the monster cap attaches, and the included 3 Stellarvue HD mounting rings are a bit scruffy, but the tube and focuser are comsmetically 9/10.
No diagonal but a multi-reticle RDF and armoured travel case are included,

Price is $3300 including postage. Will consider reasonable offers, but this is an EXCELLENT instrument in fine condition, so no low-balls.
Try before you buy welcome.
Pics to follow.
Thanks for looking,
Peter

Just wanting to help out a little here - Anyone interested should have a look around on the net, the TMB/LZOS 105/650 is a legendary optic set.. These OTA's are built by stellarvue, implementing a TMB designed, LZOS built lens.. You're not likely to find many 4" APO's that will rival the quality of these scopes..

Sigh.. Just spent heaps on toys.. Can't afford another just yet...

Best of luck with the sale Peter, I'm sure someone will snaffle this baby up..

Out of interest I tried to find it on the Stellarvue website, but couldn't. There's f/7 refractors similar, but not f/6.2. What's the actual product no?

Troy,
Its no longer made by Stellarvue, as, and pick any version you find credible:
1) APM had the license to the lens design and negotiating the rights became too much hassle.
2)LZOS started charging too much, since even though demand increased, their QC costs (chuck-outs) were still the same.
3)Thomas Back claimed he had the rights to the lens design and only wanted TMB and APM to manufacture it.
4) Adverse $ / Ruble exchange rate.
5) Some combination of all the above!

Their history is a bit confused as even on the Stellarvue Yahoo group, you get differing versions.
They were made to order and I think the last LZOS lensed 105 went out in late '08 (but see my sig!).
Thanks Alex for the pump. I'm really quite astounded by this scope's clarity and would love to keep it, but everything we do here these days seems to cost $5000, and now we need new bloody cattle troughs in 3 paddocks.

Any chance you could post some photos of it. (And photos taken with it, too, if you have any.)
Regards,
Brian.

Miaplacidus,
I haven't taken any WITH it, because, quite honestly I'm not much good. I'll try and post pics of it later today.
We're having Telstra troubles ATM so everything's taking ages to load(I even paid the bill this month!). I'm waiting on my SLR and all I've got is a P&S. I suppose I could try an EP shot though.
Its a bad weekend!
Thanks,
Peter

I also own an SV105f6.2 with LZOS optics and can vouch for the superb quality of the optics and also of the quality of the optical tubes made by Vic Maris. What makes Stellarvue different to many of the other manufacturers,is that even though the Optics are sourced from the same place as many of the other companies. Before Stellarvue will use them, they are all individually tested, and many are rejected, hence limited availability of Stellarvue scopes, just like some of the more well know and advertised companies. The Stellarvue tubes are second to none, and better than most.Vic Maris the owner and maker of Stellarvue, worked in conjunction with Thomas Beck of TMB and with Yuri from TEC on the LZOS optics used in these scopes, and what stopped their production was the cost factor to manufacture optics of such high quality and to keep it priced reasonably for the general public, unlike some manufacturers.Unfortunately the later optics marked TMB design and sold after the death of Thomas Beck are not of the same quality, and were not used by Stellarvue, who went to an F7 optics, but are still used by some other companies. There was no falling out between Vic and Thomas,as reported in some places,in fact they were in constant contact right up till Thomas past away, and Vic is still in contact with Yuri fro TEC throwing ideas and such around. The other good thing about Stellarvue,if you have any questions, you can ring them and you will be put through to the Owner/Maker himself,Vic Maris. Not too many companies you can do that with. How do I know this? I have done it,all before I purchased my SV105,I thoroughly researched what I was looking at spending my money on.And if I had the money again,I would buy it over again,no question.

Regards and sorry for the rant

Wayne

Apologies to those of you after pics. For some reason our BB has fallen to well below normal dial-up speeds and I cannot uplaod files of any size.
Your patience is appreciated.
