TheSkyX through VNC or Remote Desktop

Can anyone provide advise on having TheSkyX run smoothly through VNC or Remote Desktop? I find TheSky6 slows it down, but TheSkyX is making both unusably slow for me.

I've tried TightVNC. Happy to buy a license to an alternative if someone can confirm good functionality.

I have tried Remote Desktop, and it is better than TightVNC for speed but only just. Also, I have a preference towards VNC because it doesn't mess with the desktop size.

I use it with teamiewer. Have not noticed any speed issues.

Seems there is no radmin viewer for the iPad, and I need to access it from my iPad. :(

I use TightVNC with TSX/TPoint and it is a bit slow in its responses but I put that down the the wireless link. It is rated at 300Mbps but often only connects at 150Mbps. There is also Maxim, FocusMax and a couple of others.

Hmm, interesting, I'll have to try it again at home over the ethernet and wifi. I often use it over 3G so a different order of magnitude of speed.

I run TSX through VNC. I had to disable Open GL as it wouldn't play nicely but otherwise it runs OK. I also have Maxim, FocusMax etc running.

Ethernet is better - the screen refresh is sometimes slow but its certainly usable. It does mean I can leave everything running outside while I sit at the desk away from the mozzies.

Hmm, I've turned off Open GL and am still getting very poor performance, even over my internal wifi :( I wil need to do some testing of other VNC applications to see what works I think.

I think that is the go. I used UltraVNC for a while but it was slow. Radmin is way more responsive. You can try it for 30 days without paying.

Try logmein. I can control my laptops in the observatory with HD remote screen inside a browser on my main computer (inside). I can watch a HD video although with a delay.

I now use SkyX on the observatory laptop (win7), and remotely control it with Remote Desktop on another laptop (win7) via a Netgear wireless-N router, and the speed of the Skyx is fine, no lag issues.
However, up until recently, it did have lag issues when using an older wireless router that was pre-N, so the key for me was upgrading the wireless router which increased both signal strength and data transfer rate.

Before I installed the wireless-N router recently, I tried extending the non-N network to increase my signal strength and coverage and although that did work too, the response times improved again once I moved to the wireless-N router.
So, it seems most of the lag in my system was, as I suspected, in the data transfer rate.

Remote Desktop does run at OK speeds for me, the problem there is it resizes the screen. Having two 22" screens resized down to 1280x1024 at best, causes significant inconvenience :(

Using something like VNC or RAdmin doesn't mess with the screen at all.

I haven't found a RDP viewer which won't shrink the screens down.
