Usually I dont eat lunch because it spoils my appetite when I get home for dinner, which we have pretty early at 4pm, but today I had to eat something because I was feeling a little low. Set out to digest all the nutrition require for the day I went through mcdonalds drive through and got myself one of those new lamb burgers. What a monster of a thing and taste wise too good to be sold out of a McDonalds. Serious try it out ppl it will surprise.

Have to agree, although I'm starting to look like I do  I don't eat a lot of Maca's but I had one of these the other night and it is perhaps the best burger ever offered at McDonalds.

SWMBO tried one last week and did not like it. Maybe liking it is a male thing.

How much does it cost? I'm sure it's a right royal rip-off like the other sub-atomic particles that Mcdonalds passes off as "burgers".

$7.95. Can put a price limit on food it to important to be tight with. I'd rather give up an ep for a good meal.

I've had the lamb burger and I was surprised, it was really nice.

The beetroot and egg however I believe it doesn't need it. I think it's between $10.50 and $11 for a large meal due to the size of the burger, its huge!

its probably "lamb substitute" a la fawlty towers!
i honestly dont know how these people who have, lets face it, have been contributing by helping turning our kids (parents fault though still) and adults into obese diabetic fat pigs!
nothing in this world would compel me to walk into one of their "restaurants(ha)"!

I don't eat the food but they always have useable toilets when on a long trip. You don't have to ask for the key like many of the servos.

I can't remember the last time I had a macca's - even though I love them.

Ever since I found out that all their meat is halal slaughtered, I've made a point of steering clear. I despise the fact that they serve only Halal meat, having willingly surrendered to the wishes of a minority and stuff the rest of us. Google halal slaughterhouses if you want to see my point.

No:thanx:

I haven't been to Maccas in ages but I went to try one yesterday with my boy and I was surprised too. It was really good and I could recognise all of the ingredients in it but for the lamb paddy. But still tasted very good. Then again all the new stuff tastes good for a little while until it gets back into line with the other mac crap. And the chips still taste better at hungry jacks ;)

I don' eat Maccas on principle

Whenever I have to go there with others I take my own food and use their facilities. However I sometimes have the free seniors coffee. Oooo! isn't that a dirty trick!:P:lol:

I don't like Macca's and won't go in one unless forced by company.
I don't like their policies and vote with my feet.
I went to thelocal super butcher a while back and bought a case of Macca's for 60 dollars (400 in the box I think) so - about 15 cents each.
I ate one and yes it tasted just like a Big mac - so I fed the rest to my dog over a period of about 12 months. He's not as fussy as me.
I was amazed how much they shrink when cooked....

as per Consensus, sounds like its good, so will give it a try.
I don't always have Mac's, but don't mind them once in a way.
I think they're far better than kfc though, and wonder why they don't get so much flak given their food is so much more unhealthier, dripping in oil and all that.

Last had Maccas coming back from Vegas in 2005 at the LA Airport. Was about the only food place we recognised. 1 meal was enough for two of us with leftovers ... and they asked did we want to upsize it ...!!:eyepop:
Chips should not come in buckets !!! They could bail out New Orleans with a few of those things...

I'm usually hungry again an hour after I eat at HJs or Maccas. I have a bit of a problem with that.

If you really want to support the lamb industry and not Maccas CEOs pockets go to your local butcher and buy 500g of minced lamb and go and make some rissoles for the bread you have at home.

I usually choose HJ's over Maccas as their burgers are actually properly sized.

Or I just make a couple of Sab Burgers. These babies make the Big Mac look positively microscopic.

Jeebus. I'd rather just get a pizza for that sort of coin.

LOL, Mike. Hope this is good for the Aussie farmer, as lamb prices have been around $3-4 per kg and last year did hit $6.00 . Been a bit lean for profit this year. All the best.

Haven't had a Maccas since they dumped the McOz. Something about beetroot that says 'burger' to a kid of the 70's.

Have a look at this. This is an Australian Halal slaughterhouse (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m66jDeeVSUw). Just look at the cattle struggling while they bleed out...... MacDonalds should be ashamed of themselves.... there is no excuse for animal cruelty. Ever.

I wonder if Maccas have tried to patent their burgers.

About 60 years ago there was a popular comic strip featuring Popeye the Sailor. Popeye lived on tinned Spinach that gave him super strength but I think there was a moral in the story to make kids eat their spinach which was seldom liked by children.

Popeye had an offsider Wimpy who lived on "Ham"burgers. However the "Ham" was seldom part of the burger. Over the years Wimpy must have appeared in hundreds of the strips and I think he had a different recipe for a burger in every one.

When I was young there was a local Hamburger shop that used to have lovely tasty odours wafting out every time you passed it. However the children of good god fearing parents were not allowed near such unsavoury places frequented by the riff raff. Ah! how times have changed.

Before Maccas took over the fast food industry I used to travel up and down the east coast between Sydney and Cairns by car. While on the road I lived on Hamburgers. To find a place that served good burgers you would look for an eatery that had a lot of semi trailers parked outside.

Had a lamb burger the other day for lunch and it repeated on me for the rest of the day so won't be having that again.
I usually go for the fillet-o-fish and big Mac set up and I find that Maccas is an excellent laxative.

Astro_Bot
30-08-2012, 04:25 PM
It usually has the opposite effect on me. I often eat Maccas when driving long-distance for that reason ... fewer pit stops!

Peer pressure got the better of me.
Based on the posts here I went to Macca's for the first time since... I can't remember when.

I didn't like the burger much to be honest. Pretty average.
Got the meal deal and changed the coke for a choc shake.
The 'fries' were horrible, and so was the shake.
I remember now why I stopped going there 20 odd years ago.

Don't have it often, but it's back to the Whopper for me.
And HJ's chips.
And HJ's shakes.

Both of you need to stop drinking the kool aid one can only imagine you are motivated by racism.

Can you cite some actual facts for you asertion that all Maccas is all Halal? Can you tell me the difference between Halal and kosher without google?

If you believe that a food chain shouldn't adjusts it menu for the local eating habits then you've missed the point. Why didn't you take a stand when they started making veggie meals? What's the expression halls of mirrors........

Diclaimer, I personally can't stand Mc Donald's, mainly because the food sucks.

They do use halal slaughtered meat in areas with a significant islamic population, as do the other fast food chains

Peter Ward

What the heck, as the Macca's ads like to put it, is: a slice of "rasher bacon".

When I went to school, you could have a "rasher" of bacon, meaning a "slice" of bacon.

So do we now have a slice, of a slice, of bacon???

Either the language has changed, or the advertising-copy writers are full of well, porkies... Gosh! fancy that! :)

Zhou
30-08-2012, 11:09 PM
I guess that is another reason not to eat at Maccas!

BTW, do Halal slaghter houses in Australia have to follow certain regulations? I can't imagine a secular country such as Australia willingly allowing inhumane practices to placate a particular religious belief.

What I can't stand about them is their friggin prices. Come on, $4.95 for a "Big" Mac? The box is the size of a playing card and the diminutive contents fits in the palm of my hand for petes sake. And their Angus burgers, chicken deluxe etc, which actually start to resemble the Whopper in size, are $6-7!!! And I don't think any sane person would fork out $3 for the Cheeseburger, it has the diameter of a Televue Ranger and the thickness of 2 sheets of paper. If half the contents are not spilt into the box drowing in a quagmire of misfired sauce, consider yourself lucky. It defies belief.

HJ's or one of KFC's boxed meals are far, far better value for money if you need a fast food hit. And at HJ's you actually get your properly sized burger intact aswell.

As a matter of interest, where is this verifiable fact "that all their meat is halal slaughtered" and "they serve only Halal meat" cited? I can't find it referenced on McDonald's own website and searching elsewhere only turned up references to a few specific McDonalds outlets that offer halal food.

Thanks.

No Halal meat at KFF that's for sure. Just Oolala meat.

Astro_Bot

I was referring to the nature of halal meat and practices at slaughterhouses. This is easily verified. As for McDonalds, and more specifically, Paul's (PCH) views, you'd best check with him.

Anything else you'd like to assume first, check later?

I think we all should be respectfull of others here .

The way the this thread has moved from a light discussion on a "burger " to blatently rasist banter is poor form imo and in deep need of a little self moderation eh?

TrevorW
31-08-2012, 08:55 PM
Thank Allah, for a sane response,

I was surprised as well how it moved from lamb burger to Halal to Muslin undertones although Peters joke was IMO harmless and a good play on words

You would be surprised just how many foods are Halal approved and I think this topic was previously mentioned in another thread.

Value for money I'll still stick to HJ's

I'm not saying that I take offense, It's just a harmless joke, but my point is that we have to be real careful about what goes up online, some may take it the wrong way and cause issues. Some people would reach for the "file complain" button at the drop of a hat! :D

Gone are the days of a real corner take-away hamburger.

They came with a mince pattie, egg, bacon, cheese, lettuce, tomato and fried onions on a toasted bun with tomato sauce. If you wanted a extra treat you could have a fried pineapple as well.

Sadly they have declined, replaced by the pulp that the conglomerates sell of as food.
