'Dramatic' NGC6188 - RGBSHO

Hi everyone. If you live in SEQLD ... how good was the 2 week-ish stretch of reasonably clear skies we recently enjoyed Pity about the jetstream that made the atmosphere particularly messy on most nights, but we takes what we can get :-) In that time, I made a simple 2 panel mosaic of NGC6188, the mighty (Fighting) Dragons of Ara, with my SW120ED. Just for something different, I processed the data to make it 'dramatic' and befitting of the DSO's name. It's certainly more in-your-face than my previous more subtle attempts with different scopes. I do however like the end result but it's guaranteed to not be everyone's taste - sharing for fun. There is one boo boo (a purple star lol) that I'll fix at some stage.

SW120ED, ASI294MC, AOG/ASI290MM, Antlia RGB Ultra, Antlia Ha-Oiii, Antlia Hb-Sii, APP, PI, PS. Per panel: about 2hrs RGB, and 9Hrs Ha-Oiii and Hb-Sii respectively. APP used to split NB from BB data. All data combined/edited in PI.

Very large hires here since the forum murders uploaded images. As always, Thanks for looking. Alex

Very dramatic Alex. Nice. Maybe I need to invest in that SII filter & move from HOO.

Very jealous of your clear skies...

Cheers,
Mark

Very dramatic and "in your face" image of a great nebula. Well done.

Thanks Mark and Steve. Yep, it’s kinda like “Pow” ain’t it lolz. I’m (hopefully) collecting a few more hours tonight and then I’ll produce a final, more subtle NGC6188 image. I still have a whoooooole lot of Lobster Claw Nebula RGB and SHO data to process so I’ve got a few weeks of post-proc fun to look fwd too

Mark, I do like the Antlia Hb-Sii filter but there are other similar dualband filters with Sii. I combine the Hb and Oiii data to make ‘O’ for SHO images.
