no info on a price ... it would be good to have an option to use AO with this sensor but i think i would still take the FLI ML16200

The price is clearly stated $USD6995 or about $A10K plus GST

Looks good. I think this will be a very successful sensor as APSc size is just about the max for many scopes before needing seriously sized focusers, flatteners and greatly increased scope costs.

Moravian G3 16200 is about 2910 Euros plus import costs and GST, FLI ML16200 is around US$6750 I think, now this much the same price. QHY has an all in one planned at US$3999. Starlight Express have stated no intention of doing a camera for this sensor.

Its like a mini KAF16803 with smaller pixels that match the smaller focal lengths many use or the large aperture fast scopes that have become popular.

Too bad its not a Sony sensor - now that would be awesome.

Greg.

It's one of these I'd really be after....

Un-attenuated AO guiding with a 16803 sensor will be soooo cool.

Apparently Atik has also been developing a camera with KAF-16200.

I used a MMOAG... only once. Didn't enjoy it. Put it back in its box and sold it

I have found getting guide stars with the FW-G's (easy integration and wide field optics) *much* easier and immune to something shifting and ending up with eggy stars after a long (eg 30 minute) sub-exposure.

You gave up too early. I have found the MMOAG to be a wonderful accessory and rock solid. OAG can be a little tricky to focus but once you've got that sorted its pretty reliable. The little grub screws fixing mechanism is fine but I have had it catch on an adapter not seated properly but rarely.

You can put a GSO .5X reducer on the end of an STi for brighter stars at the expense of some focal length and perhaps a tad less accuracy.

30 minutes would be no problem for a MMOAG as well. Flex usually is from other components or adapters. MMOAG on my CDK with the extremely strong Planewave adapter has been super reliable and guide stars rarely an issue.

I like the look of the Alluna OAG though with its rotating head. US$1199 is actually not that expensive as MMOAG is about $1000 including the various adapters you need. 4inch opening would mean special adapters as 3 inch seems to be the standard for many devices.

Greg.
