Celestron EdgeHD 8 inch dew heater ring

Does anyone use the Celestron 8-inch dew heater ring designed for the EdgeHD and RASA telescopes? If so, how have you found it?

I like the idea, given that it fits inside the scope's front opening, and runs off a standard 12V power supply, but I'm dubious that it can heat the whole of the corrector plate sufficiently well to keep the dew off on a humid night (and it gets plenty humid in winter hereabouts).

Any advice, experience or abuse welcome.

Hi

I made something somewhat similar from resistors and found it works well.

The Celestron one looks a great idea, as a permanent install, mine sits in with Velcro.
