Gum12b

A rare few clear hours at the start of Monday and Wednesday night meant I could have a go at Gum 12b before it gets too low this year.

This is an 8 panel mosaic- only about 4 hours in total- as even on the second ''clear'' night a few rogue clouds managed to find the bit I was aiming for but that's a good night these days.

A better version is here:

Gum 12b marks the border between Gum and Antlia SNR, and this can be seen as the competing curves in hydrogen alpha distribution. The rightmost third of this image on the Antlia side contains 32 galaxies- of which NGC 2997 can be seen on the lower right.

The main mission was to connect Gum12b to the rest of my WIP mosaic, the unprocessed version -which is now a total of 42 panels -is shown here 50% reduced for context (6 arc sec/pixel):

I hope for better weather in 9 months time or so to finish it off.

Details: AzGti mount; Samyang f/2 at f/2.8; 135 mm; 6nm Ha filter; ASI533MM Pro; 2 min guided subs; Bortle 7; Planned in Telescopius; Composed in MS-ICE.
