A nicely illuminated Clavius

Last night was an unexpected bonus - with a couple hours of clearish sky before the clouds rolled in. Conditions very challenging but I really enjoyed the views of Clavius through the eyepieces - just a really lovely illumination that highlit so many features. I let my 7yr old son drive the rig for a bit and he diligently "checked all of the holes for aliens".

I captured a quick video just as the sky closed for the night, and even though the atmosphere was very turbulent, I was impressed by some of the detail. Hope you enjoy the view as well!

You could put Sydney on the lip of one edge, and Canberra would be just beyond the opposite edge, incredible to think about. Lovely shot.

Thanks guys I'm glad you liked the view too! It's nice to pull a good result from a less-than-good night. It's funny how the lighting and framing can make such a difference too. The kids are just getting the hang of using the eyepieces and even joining the images with binoviewers so I can let them drive the mount and explore on their own terms now
