Hi everyone:

I'm David (and I live now in northern Indiana) got my 2nd observatory...and we've been treated good enough by God to receive my 2nd Total Solar Eclipse viewing session (the first one was in 2017 and now in 2024) and 2 I got to see and take a movie in 4K of the Northern Lights: ps: I've got a youtube channel just type in 'David's Astronomy Channel' and click on the little Saturn icon and it shows you all my movies. But I've used recently a Nikon D5 dslr (with 4K movies and 3.2 million ISO) on my RASA 11 v1 and all mounted on my ioptron cem120ec2 mount here in northern IN... so some nights it's a little much (washes out the sky back ground with light pollution but I can also turn it down and do more) but too of course this would ordinarily under-sample given the fl and big pixels but it does good for astro movies (ps: I've taken 30fps 4K movies of the Sword in Orion and the Moon and of satellites passing and stuff more of that is on my youtube channel) It's coming-up Orion season again! The the First 3 are of the HorseHead and the 4th one is Messier 101 and the 5th one is the Sword in Orion and the 6th one is of the Northern Lights...

The last one is my RASA 11 v1 in my new observatory in northern Indiana - the observatory cost more than my one in southern MI...but it's 2 feet longer North to South. roll off roof also. I wish for good videography that they make a better camera (for hi ISO and low noise and hi resolution and comes in a small canister-type cam like the QHY600 and (ps: I've got one of those also) but wish to finally get NGC 7000 and the Cygnus Loop and dim things like those (ps: on my youtube channel I've done 4K 30fps movies of M13 M57 M81 and M82 and M101 and even Messier 1. etc all were do-able except the dimness of NGC 7000 and Cygnus Loop kind of dimness. That's too dim for it - figure if i had that camera and a RASA 14" it could make the additional difference. my youtube channel is 'David's Astronomy Channel' and click on the little Saturn icon. What do you think?

Wow, David, your setup sounds incredible! Your new observatory in northern Indiana must be quite the upgrade with that extra length and the roll off roof. I completely understand desire for a beter camera to capture those dim objects like NGC 7000 and the Cygnus Loop high ISO and low noise are definitely key for those. Your YouTube channel sounds fascinating; I'll definitely check out 'David's Astronomy Chanel' and look for the Saturn icon. With a RASA 14" and the right camera, I bet you'd get stunning results on those challenging targets. Keep up the great work!
