RIP Alex

I have had a message from Sandy (Alex's Daughter) to advise that Alex passed away this morning, in his sleep, due to heart failure. The ongoing cancer battle, and the demands of Chemo, wore him down. Sandy wanted me to pass on how much Alex had learned from the IIS community, and he was always talking about the support and friendships that the community had given him, both in astronomy and in his health battle.

I will miss him terribly.

Glen

I only knew Alex through his presence in the IIS community and it's clear that his connection to the community meant a lot to him. His passion for astronomy and his courage in the face of his health challenges were truly inspiring to us all. His contributions and spirit will not be forgotten.

My heartfelt condolences go to his family and friends.

Chris

Although it's sad he's gone I'm glad his suffering is over. I only know him from his posts on IIS but he was a big character and will be missed on this forum. I enjoyed how he always spoke his mind. RIP mate.

So sad to hear. Deepest condolences to Alex's family and friends.

We will remember Alex for his vibrant personality, wit and wonderful sense
of humor. He brought a real spark to the IceInSpace community.

Forever inquisitive, always wanting to learn, his presence will be deeply
missed, and his absence leaves a void that will be felt by all who had
the pleasure of interacting with him.

Goodbye Alex. We will miss you.
