V2 - Centuarus A / NGC5128 with Relativistic Jet

Hi Folks. I can't believe that I last popped in here in April ... the time has flown. And the quality of images shared since then are great - keep em coming

The last image I shared (here) was an LRGB version of Centaurus A which provided a hint of one relativistic jet emanating from the galaxy's centre (massive blackhole). I collected more NB and BB data and have spent the past two weeks trying to process the Ha/Oiii/LRGB data to my satisfaction ... not happy with the stars, and, various blending has introduced some colour 'blotchiness'. Bottom line: I won't ever be happy with the final image soooooo I'm sharing where I got too, and I'm moving on to my next project. The cool thing is, with the extra Ha and Oiii data I finally have a reasonable view of the relativistic jet albeit not as detailed as I'd like. It is a seriously faint part of Centaurus A that requires a lot of Ha data to produce a decent signal (in that area). The Oiii seems to pop out with less data.

EdgeHD 8", AZ-EQ6, ASI294MM, ASI174MM & AOG, Antlia LRGB filters, NINA, PI and PS

~31 hours of integration.
L = 35 x 240s = 2h 20m
R = 51 x 240s = 3h 24m
G = 45 x 240s = 3h
B = 35 x 240s = 2h 20m
H = 236 x 240s = 15h 44m
O = 59 x 240s = 4h 44m

Hires here. As always, thanks for looking. Alex

Spectacular image. Don't be too hard on yourself - that's about as much detail in those jets that I've seen anywhere...ever - very very impressive! If i'm not mistaken, you've also got some detail in the halo around the galaxy which is amazing too - and well lets not forget the NGC5128 itself - great detail and clarity and well balanced colour too. Be very proud of your efforts on this very challenging project! Well done

That’s the best Centaurus A I’ve seen. That jet is fantastic. Rob

Again, well done Alex. A fantastic capture. I keep looking at Cent Abut keep putting it off until I can get out of town to some dark skies for the LRGB parts, but it hasn't been happening - one day.

Keep up the great work.

Cheers,
Mark
